Open Question: problem in apartments please help need advice?
legal advice past experience anything will help. .....Ok to make a long story short I had a water leak in my apartment from roofing problems. When I just noticed the leak (after few storms) i reported the problem to the maintance guy and the office they said that they were going to see that it would be taken care of. After many phone calls of concern (a month later) no repairs have been made. Anyway besides the dried crusty sheet rock that was crumbling away and falling on my furniture and carpet I had reason to believe there might be mold (Because the sheet rock was not dried after the leak) I had a mold air inspection and the results came back to show that we had high levels of Cladiusporin in our living room (where the leak is) its an allergen and can affect infants and people with weak amune system ( I have a 5 month old) the amount in the home was 30X the amount outdoors. any way the biologist suggested I go and show my pediatritian what my son has been exposded to for all his life and see if there are any symptoms that he could experience. GETTING TO THE POINT my manager quickly moved us into a hotel while they did there own testing they called us today and told us there is no traces of mold of any sort and that it was completely safe to come back home. She told me the results we got from the enviornmental service we used to test for mold were incaccurate and that they must of done the test wrong. We paid $200 to get the test it wasnt a cheap thing they did air and surface testing. I dont know who to believe and what I should do. Can I legally break my lease or do i need to listen to the apartment manager and believe their results.

Open Question: DVI input - why isnt it working?
Hi.
I recently picked up a new monitor with VGA DVI and HDMI hookups
I work for a surplus office furniture store (Surplus liquidators) and in many of our truck loads, I have found DVI hookups.
For the last week I have been off work, due to bruised "chest meat" and anxiety; However today I took a walk to work, and that took everything out of me - so that I could grab one of these cables.
When i got home, and hooked it up, I switched inputs from vga to DVI, and all im getting is my Desktop picture. nothing else. Not even the icons - Even if im not on the desktop.
Why does it do that? And what is DVI for?
I intend on going to staples and picking up an HDMI Cable ASAP; But in the mean time, I would like to know how this input is supposed to work, and why its not / sort of is working....
Thanks for your time!!
Devon Lively.

Resolved Question: Why am I so sensitive to smells?
This is starting to become ridiculous. I know I am always going to get a head ache on Tuesdays and Thursday's because the accountant is in- and he smells awful. Nobody else notices it though! My furniture STILL smells like the basement to me, but my family thinks I'm insane. I can small a dirty diaper a mile away. When the people in the offices BELOW ours make popcorn, I can smell it. I hate when people spray perfume around me. All of it gives me a head ache and makes me dizzy. I'm not pregnant- this has been going on for years...actually this has been going on since I got pregnant with my daughter almost 3 years ago. It's like that one pregnancy symptom never went away. I would really like it to though- because it's becoming unmanageable. I know there is nothing anyone can really do for me here, but does anybody have any experience with this? Is there ANYTHING I can do to stop these smell induced head aches!?!?! I can't even ride in my own car anymore, because my husband likes to eat McDonalds on his way home in the morning, and I swear I can still smell his McMuffins!
I am not going to go to the Doctor's Office, it smells funny :)
Nope...nope. Not insane. I just checked. Thanks for taking the time to provide a thoughtful and intelligent answer though!

Resolved Question: What is a good CAD program for creating a model house focused on the networking aspect of the house?
I have a huge project that I need to make a SOHO (Small Office, Home Office) model type diagram. I can obviously make a simple 2D house with Visio, but I want to take it the next step. I am looking for a program that is somewhat similar to 3D Home Architect (in that you can make a house with walls, furniture, etc. in very high quality) accept has extra models for computing and networking such as routers, servers, tower computers, laptops, phones, switches, etc. Money is not a problem as this is something I might use for a business after this class is over. I also have an extremely capable computer.

Resolved Question: Corruption: Can you bottom this?
Banner day today for news stories that are a sign of the times.
#1. Race is on for the Texas governor election. Republican in trouble because he refuses to answer questions about rising unemployment during his term. Asked about it on live radio, he said, "It's true, we've lost 270,000 jobs but the rate has slowed." But the commentator slams him by pointing out that there were actually 350,000 jobs lost on the private sector, while 80,000 NEW ones were created -- guess where? IN TEXAS GOVERNMENT!!! Not exactly what you'd call your basic anti-big-government scenario.
Eerie was the sidelight about the 'Tea Party Independent' candidate who, according to the commentary, lost her points and position when she appeared on the Glenn Beck radio show and was asked about US Government complicity in the events of 9/11. She said, "There's a lot of evidence, but I think it is premature to say it is sure." Guess what. Her viewpoint was TOO MODERATE! Heresy!
OFF WITH HER HEAD!
Now, you'd think that double-barreled fiasco would for sure be the top hypocrite story of the day. But that would be ignoring Florida -- ALWAYS a mistake when duplicity is the subject.
#2: It turns out that there's a Florida legal-eagle guy named Freeman who, after being named business "Man of the Year" in 2005 became, with recent events, the Golden Boy of choice to clean up finance; being appointed as Receiver by the courts when all the bankruptcies, foreclosures and defaults began to pile sky-high. He's the one who steps in to stop the bleeding, taking possession of what is left and liquidates it so that the poor folks who have been scammed and lost their homes or life savings or whatever it is get at least something back after the crooks like Bernie Madoff are caught, or corporations go under leaving nothing but office furniture and shredded paper behind.
Well hang onto your hat. Sir Galahad Freeman was indicted today in Miami for like a bazillion counts of larceny, fraud, and grand theft. Turns out he was skimming all along , and took millions of dollars for himself. Actually stealing from the people who had already been stolen from! You have to admire the chutzpah, I guess. Call it "Equity Recycling".
#3: Meanwhile, I heard yet another one of those chummy TV advertisements in the new vein from some investment company or other -- all about "We know how it is. We look after you like family in these tough times", and so on. But when the name-hook came at the end, I almost fell out of my chair. No, you'll never guess. AIG.
It's the old riddle:
Q: Why do people who live next to Niagara Falls have ears that stick out and a flat forehead?
A: Because every morning they wake up and say, "What's that noise?" *hands push ears out*, and then "Oh! The FALLS!" *slaps forehead*.

Voting Question: What kind of sick game is my husband playing?
My husband and I have separated. I have expressed my desire to reconcile, however... and I quote "it's more complicated than that..." not sure what in the world that means? He's abandoned me and my children, left us in the home we lived in and closed our joint accounts, so that I am solely responsible for the mortgage, childcare and all utilities. The house is now in foreclosure, he gripped at me saying that I was "living in a house I was not making payments on," when he chose to leave, is not paying child support (YET... I've filed, waiting on the SLOW AG) and says he will not make any more payments on the mortgage, although he is very upset that his credit is being damaged (mine too as we are joint owners). Here's the puzzling thing... He only took with him a basket full of clothes, his pickup truck and car, his two motorcycles, leaving me with only one vehicle that has major brake issues and borderline heat. Everything else, the remainder of his clothes, his furniture he brought into the marriage, all his records and computer, all his tools and other garage items are still in our home. Also, ALL the utilities (electric, water, gas and cable) are still in his name. I've tried putting them in my name, but he called and placed a restriction on all the services so that all I could do was make payments. I AM NOT going to file for divorce (it is against my beliefs), he says he has but I work for our County office and he hasn't done a thing. What kind of sick game do you think he's playing? I KNOW he is not seeing anyone else. Do you think it could be mid-life crisis? He's 43...

Resolved Question: Who gets the guest room: your inlaws or your mother?
Let's say you have four bedrooms but only ONE designated guest room with a king-size bed. The other rooms are the office, baby's room and your bedroom (which have a limited amount of space and would be difficult to put an air mattress in ... unless you removed some of the furniture).
Your inlaws, who live an hour away, are planning to spend the night. Your mother, who lives in another state but spends 8-9 months at a time in town (but stays at her mother's house because she cares for her when she's in town), lives 8-10 minutes away.
Everyone is planning to attend the birth of your first born but there's not a designated area or bed for everyone to sleep in. Who gets the bed? The inlaws who are married or your mother? Just curious to see what others will say.
I am going to be a similar situation on Friday except my mother isn't going to make it here for the birth. My aunt wants to spend the night and I can tell my mom (who has gotten wind of what's going on) seemed annoyed that I told her my aunt would have to use an air mattress if she wants to stay the night. My mom is so jealous of my mother inlaw it isn't even funny and I have no idea why.
If my mom were here we'd have to figure something out because I wouldn't want to tell her she'd have to sleep on an air mattress. On the same note I wouldn't want to put my inlaws on an air mattress either (my father inlaw is a little on the heavy side). The thing is, my inlaws would definitely opt to stay at home to make sure my mom had the guest room so I doubt this would be an issue.
I feel kind of bad for having to tell my aunt she'll have to sleep on an air mattress, but inlaws and parents are the only time I feel the need to wreck my brain about where they will sleep. But my mom seems to have an issue with everything (as she feels family is first ... and husbands and inlaws aren't family in her mind as she hasn't been with my dad for 17-18 years).
To me, I would also take into consideration the married couple vs. the single person. I would take their health into consideration. There are a number of factors. But my inlaws aren't ones to intrude. They would opt to stay at home in a heartbeat if there was ever a question as to where my mom would sleep.
