Spending money on your house or things for your house like furniture, decorations, electronics? Things to make the house look nice and be more comfortable. In my house I'm the one who is always trying to improve things. I am not talking about buying things we can't afford or charging them to a credit card. I think we need a new couch at the moment. I've had that couch since I was single, for about 9 yrs. It has stains and holes. It is still comfy and we cover it when people come over, so my hubby doesn't think we need a new one. It has to do with how we were raised and our parents ideas of home decor and comfort I guess.

Hi! Im getting a 1.5 fish tank for a crowntail betta! I KNOW they thrive in a 5 gallon tank, but i really cant get that. Right now he is in a 1 gallon tank thingy. I wanna add decor into the tank. Resolved Question: How can i "Hide" a metal black door?

I live in an upstairs apartment i have two doors in my living room which is 1. Main door everybody uses to leave/enter apartment and 2. A door that leads to our apartment hallway staircase to get outdoors by a different way, i never and everybody else who comes to my home use this door because i am always using the main door. The thing is, it's right in the living room as soon as you walk in you see this big black metal door in the living room. I hate it, it looks SO UGLY! i am wanting to cover it with something like a curtain (not cover it so we can't use it no more) i just want to "Hide" it with something decor wise. I do plan on using this door on emergency situations if i cannot exit by the main door but i just want something that i can put over it. Any ideas? i was thinking curtains? but i am not sure! thanks.

Open Question: Trying to improve the decor in my home?

I'm trying to think of some things to spruce up my home on a low budget. I have 4 kids, 7 months to 4 years, so it needs to be kid friendly. I want my home to look good, I have thought of a few cheap ideas to improving it. But I would like more, it's not the prettiest house, and I'm working on it. I moved in a year ago, and it looks a lot better. I do like to make things out of stuff, I don't want anything to look generic. And, I know it's very possible to have something cheap looking good, if used right. I'm trying to figure out some ways to improve my house, if my parents or in laws come over, hear a compliment, etc. My husband is the only one working, I'm in school, and it's cheaper that I don't work right now, so we're low income right now. I go to flea markets, etc. But are there any more ideas, like I could go to the store, get some frames, etc. And spice them up?? I've thought about getting a picture frame

Open Question: Which style should I decorate my new bedroom?

I've had my own apartment here on the beach for a while now and I love it. Due to some extremely unfortunate circumstances, I'm moving back in with my parents next month. It's only 10 minutes away from the beach, but still, I'll miss being right across the street. Anyways, I have a wide variety of styles I like. And the western/horse theme I had going on before isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm considering a few things: 1. Beach theme- the walls would be painted a light blue and an off white. I'd put in white furniture. I think this theme might make me feel more 'at home' because this beach truly feels like my home now. I'd paint the walls a deep reddish orange and put some dark cherry wood furniture in OR put in some wrought iron furniture and give it a Mediterranean feel. I love Mediterranean architecture and decor. Retro/Car Theme- I've always thought I was born in the wrong decade. I'm 18 and have a nice vinyl collection. I'm also a HUGE car fan and when I was in high school ceramics I made some actually awesome pieces that could go into a retro room. Mostly including 57 Chevy Bel airs, 50s-2010 Corvettes (including the 70s stingray) and 60s-2010 mustangs (excluding the fox body and 90s crap stangs XD). This idea just seems a little more juvenile to me and I'm not sure what colors I'd paint the walls or what furniture pieces I'd get. Those are the ideas at the top of my list. What's your opinion? Me calling them "crap stangs" was not at all ignorant. It's my personal opinion, and my not liking the fox bodies or the 90s mustangs doesn't make me ignorant.
